OUTCOME 4: Children Are Confident And Involved Learners
Children use their own imagination and curiosity to come up with creative ideas, solve problems and generate that knowledge to new situations. Children question their own curiosity and what they can learn from their experience, reflecting on their own thinking processes and approaches to learning. Children participating in learning activities, build’s their knowledge of the concepts, creative thinking and inquiry processes necessary for lifelong learning. Providing children with a rich variety of open- ended materials and resources builds children’s capabilities to invent, investigate and discover and they are able to create, build, sculpt, draw, paint and construct. Children learn with others, and collaborate with each other to understand what it is like to work as group and build upon that strong bond.

VELS LEVEL 2: Grade 1 and 2
(Children resource their own learning through connecting with people. place, technologies and natural processed materials)
- play with an manipulate materials and ingredients
Activities:
- They can draw the world map- countries
- The kids can paint their flag on a paper plate or they can paint it with their hands- and then it can be hung in the room- EXAMPLE, youtube video below: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BGfFbjjfskY
The children are able to use open ended materials that enables them to do a variety of activities such as painting, drawing, craft making etc. These two activities are really great for children to collaborate with each other such as painting the world map as seen in the above image. They are working with each other and building up their creative minds with the help of others.
- Include singing, drawing, drama
Children are exploring with different materials other then art tools, they are singing, drawing and doing drama relating to their culture. This is a really good activity to increase their creative minds, by giving them an open ended choice of materials and giving them the choice to do whatever they want
- Children can send postcards to their friends in the room- there can have a mail box
This is another great activity that involves children to interact with others to create that strong bond. By allowing children to send postcards to their friends, it shows that they want to get to know each other better and this is important because children need to learn how to socialize with others. Besides that, they are experimenting with other materials to make a postcard such as cardboard, ribbons, pens etc. Giving them open- ended materials it increases their creative minds.
